This insured that the user who had not corrected those errors would not create a bad consist and thus would not have MSTS crash with no known cause. For that reason ConBuilder was coded to not load those ENG/WAG files in its Engine/Wagon Lists, but instead create a TXT file listing the TrainSet folder/filename and reason. So, I am interested in knowing what they are.įor anyone new to MSTS/ORTS and not familiar with the CEs written for MSTS let me explain why I made my post #3 above: There are some parameters in ENG/WAG files which if not found by MSTS or which have typos in their Unit of Measure (KN vice KW) will cause MSTS to "choke" and if there is an error message it will not report the reason for failure. Another was a better filter of the ENG/WAG list(s). Oh! And by the way there was another list created that listed things that TSRE-CE does that ConBuilder did not. But of course comparison list was ONLY in the realm of consist editing as TSRE-CE was not planned to have the Train Sim file testing tools that are available in ConBuilder. Aided in part by providing Goku with the list when I left the ConBuilder Team. That list has shrunk as new versions have been released. What incompatibilities have you found that TSRE-CE has with MSTS? When I was still with the ConBuilder team and TSRE had just been introduced I found about 17 maybe 18 things that ConBuilder did in consist editing that TSRE-CE did not. TSRE Consist Editor is the latest and greatest it has some incompatibilities with MSTS but works perfectly well with OR.Ĭonsist editors built with MSTS in mind have incompatibilities with OR but work perfectly well with MSTS. It should be posted to an OR forum so it finds more people that use and are more familiar with the foibles of OR. If, on the other hand, you are using OR then that is a whole different ball of wax. I was just pointing out that you were posting to an MSTS forum.
